Shauna and her husband Marven own a small teaching and training facility on Prince Edward Island in Canada. Shauna teaches riding and has eight to twelve horses in training year round. Shauna’s husband, Marven, under her guidance started showing recently as a Novice Amateur but pointed out before his first year was completed so is now showing in Amateur classes. Her students, of all ages, have shown successfully, capturing titles in both English and western events in novice youth, youth, novice amateur, amateur, open and non-pro classes which explains one of the many reasons why Maple Hill Quarter Horses and Shauna Maclean has such a fine reputation and continues to grow. Shauna has been showing for 22 years and as a professional for the last seven years. Shauna most recently captured the title of Female Junior and Senior Athlete of the Year as well as Coach of the Year from her Province. She has multiple Canadian and US Champion and Reserve Championships in both English and Western Disciplines. She has also had her share of lunge line and futurity championships. Shauna qualified for and showed successfully at the 2004 AQHA World Show. Shauna continues her education on a steady basis by working with only the finest clinicians the industry has to offer. She has and continues to work with professionals at the peak of their professional careers such as Troy Compton, Shane Dowdy, Cleve Wells, and Steve Heckaman. Treasure has had an opportunity to observe Shauna’s talent grow and to also take note of the humble person she is. People look at Shauna and see a very attractive, sharp and appealing looking, professional person who presents a very confident appearance. Because of that sometimes people are intimidated to talk with her. Appearances can be deceiving; the funny thing is, that it is Shauna who is shy until she gets comfortable around you or until you put her together with a horse or horse and rider, then she is all business. Whether Shauna is working with a trainer for her own benefit or she is working with a student(s) and/ their horse(s) she is totally immersed in goals. Because she is such a motivated student/teacher and trainer we are proud to have selected her to begin a series of clinics here at Treasure on a more regular basis. Shauna’s teaching philosophy is: "I try to strive for the best that each horse and rider pair can achieve. People and horses are different from one another, with different strengths and weaknesses. It is my job as a teacher/trainer to highlight the strengths and improve upon the weaknesses. We can’t all be stars but everyone can learn, improve and have fun along the journey!"
